Instagram Model Gets Real About The ‘Fit Girl Secret’ To Hiding Your Muffin Top

Whenever you’re scrolling through your “discover” page on Instagram, it seems as though there are more and more “fitspo models” entering the social media world.
While their bodies look pretty much perfect and their photos are flawless, 9/10 times it makes us feel as though we’re a fat POS because we look absolutely nothing like them. Many times, Instagram influencers and models look as though they have the perfect bodies in photos–but in real life, they look exactly like us.

Just take Beck Jackson, an Adidas ambassador and fitness chick who has over 211,000 followers. In her photos, Jackson appears to have the most flawless body out there.

WHAT A BLOODY DAY TO BE ALIVE ☀️ Note: this photo was not taken today because it’s 5 degrees RN and I’m definitely not in a sports bra. BUT STILL! Do you ever wake up and just think “I’m really really happy for no reason other than I’m alive and healthy right now, making the most out of my life”? Your life is exactly what you make it and you literally create your own happiness, if you wake up thinking you’re going to have a shit day, chances are you probably will. But if you wake up with a positive mindset, regardless of what you have planned for the day ahead, the likelihood of you having a good day is a lot higher. @em_carey wrote something on her Instagram the other day which I really really loved: “Today somebody will see the sunrise over the ocean for the first time, today somebody will fall in love, today somebody will survive something that could have killed them, today somebody will marry the love of their life, today somebody will take their first steps, today somebody said “I love you” for the first time, today somebody had the best day of their life. Maybe today it won’t be you, but isn’t it nice to know that for someone out there it will be? And then maybe tomorrow it will be you”. You put positive vibes out there and the world will give you positive vibes back. It’s so easy to dwell on the little things you don’t like about your life – maybe you don’t like your job or you hate going to school, maybe someone isn’t being very nice to you or maybe your life is just feeling bleh. BUT MAYBE tomorrow will be the best day of your life, and if that doesn’t make you smile and give you a bit of hope then I’m not sure what will 💫

But, in a recent post, Jackson revealed that most women–including these “perfect models”–do have what we refer to as a muffin top. They have hips, they have love handles–hell, they have some fat on them. But, the key to hiding it in their photos? High-waisted leggings.

She posted a comparative photo of high-waisted leggings vs. low-rise leggings to show the vast difference saying:

“Why don’t you have a muffin top?”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This question always makes me laugh because honestly, most people have a muffin top to some degree 🤷🏼‍♀️
I just don’t wear anything low rise that hugs that part of my waist.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Low rise jeans or tights are SO uncomfortable to me, they show your butt crack and dig into your waistline making you look like you’re carrying more fat than you actually are. If you’ll notice, pretty much everything I wear is high waisted, or at least semi high waisted – tights, jeans, skirts, EVERYTHING! If it’s not high waisted I’m not buying it 🙅🏼‍♀️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But I have some friends who only wear low rise clothes and you know what? They look bloody fantastic!
It all comes down to wearing clothes that make you feel comfortable.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Muffin tops, love handles, cellulite, armpit fat are all a natural part of life, it doesn’t mean you’re unhealthy or unattractive or anything less than any girl (or boy) who doesn’t have those things – it’s just the way your body carries your fat and skin because everyone carries fat and muscle differently, you could be the exact same height and weight as someone else and your body will look TOTALLY different! That’s why it’s so so stupid to compare your body to someone else’s body ✌🏽

People were grateful for her honesty and candidness–saying she made themselves feel better about their own bodies.

There you have it, folks–not everything is exactly as it seems.
